Preamble

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has made remarkable strides in mimicking human cognitive functions, from natural language processing to image recognition. Among the most intriguing advancements is the simulation of human emotions within AI systems.

Emotions play a pivotal role in decision-making, social interactions and overall human experience. To emulate this complex aspect of human cognition, I dive into the Amygdala Simulator, a comprehensive project I created that integrates neuroscience principles, mathematical frameworks and robust coding practices to create an AI model capable of emotional processing.

We combine the power of HDC (Hyperdimensional Computing) with the finesse of NSAI (Neuro Symbolic AI) to create a vector symbolic architecture capable of higher dimensional representation.

Introduction

In the quest to create AI systems that understand and respond to human emotions, the Amygdala Simulator emerges as a ground-breaking project. Named after the amygdala — a key brain region involved in emotion processing — the simulator integrates hyperdimensional computing, neural networks and neuro-symbolic AI components to emulate emotional responses. By classifying emotions…
