Intelligence and creativity are often viewed as two distinct and non interactive faculties within the human mind (left or right). Intelligence, usually measured by IQ tests, is touted as the ability to reason, plan, solve problems, think abstractly, comprehend complex ideas, learn quickly, and learn from experience.
Creativity, on the other hand, is the ability to improvise and concoct original / unusual ideas, or the natural talent to make something new or imaginative. While both are invaluable, over the years an emphasis on honing intelligence without nurturing creativity has created a ceiling for mental growth.
